Team Extension/Senior Engineers

Senior engineers, without the hiring hassle.

Add experienced engineers without taking on the risk of hiring them. Agile Labs takes responsibility for their performance, employment and replacement.

More capacity, without the people problems

83% of Singapore employers struggle to find the skilled talent they need, rising to 88% in information technology.

Bring an Agile Labs engineer into the team faster, with the assurance of proven experience and engineering standards.

EngageRocket

Our engineers built their platform from inside their team.

Agile Labs engineers built the core of EngageRocket’s HR analytics platform from inside their team. The launch raised a US$3 million round, and the platform runs in 14 countries.

What matters to us in engineering augmentation

Why engineering continuity matters

Changing engineers means losing context. Agile Labs manages continuity so knowledge stays with the engagement when people change.

What senior engineering actually requires

We assess seniority by the work an engineer can own independently, not their job title or years of experience.

The first 90 days in a new codebase

A senior engineer should contribute within days, work independently within a month and take ownership as their understanding of the system grows.

How we manage engineer performance

The client directs the engineer’s day-to-day work. Agile Labs monitors performance, addresses concerns and replaces the engineer when necessary.

Working inside another engineering team

Our engineers work with the client’s tools, processes and priorities while maintaining Agile Labs’ standards for testing, review, security and code quality.

Why the employment relationship matters

The engineer remains an Agile Labs employee. We handle salary, statutory contributions, leave, benefits, training and performance throughout the engagement.

How an engineer joins the team

Engineers working alongside each other at a shared desk
01 · Define the role

Agree what they need to own

We start with the work, not a CV. We agree what the engineer will own, the technical environment they are joining and what good performance should look like after 30, 60 and 90 days.

02 · Meet the engineer

Know who is joining before committing

We propose engineers who match the work and explain how they were assessed. The client meets the engineer before signing and decides whether the fit is right.

03 · Join the team

Work inside the existing process

The engineer joins the client’s repository, stand-ups, tools and delivery process. The first change should happen early, while deeper knowledge of the system builds over the first 30, 60 and 90 days.

04 · Manage performance

Problems do not become the client’s to solve alone

The client directs the day-to-day work. Agile Labs remains responsible for performance. We check in regularly with both sides, investigate concerns and correct them or replace the engineer when necessary.

05 · Maintain continuity

Keep the work moving when people change

If an engineer leaves or becomes unavailable, Agile Labs manages the replacement and handover. Knowledge, access and documentation are transferred rather than leaving the client to restart the engagement.

06 · Scale down, scale up or hire

Change the arrangement when the need changes

Add another engineer, move to a Dedicated Team, reduce capacity, finish the engagement with a structured handover, or permanently hire the engineer through the agreed conversion path.

When the engagement changes

The terms for performance, replacement, ending or expanding an engagement are agreed from the start, not negotiated when something changes.

Performance remains our responsibility

The client directs the day-to-day work, while Agile Labs remains responsible for the engineer’s performance. If there is a concern, our tech lead investigates, agrees what needs to change and follows through. If the fit cannot be corrected, we replace the engineer.

If the fit is wrong, stop early

The first weeks are a fit window. If the arrangement is not working, either side can end it without penalty rather than forcing a poor fit to continue.

If the engineer leaves, we replace them

Agile Labs proposes a replacement, on a timeframe named in the engagement terms. There is no placement charge for the first replacement, and where possible the outgoing and incoming engineers overlap for handover.

Thirty days to end the engagement

After the minimum initial term, the engagement can be ended for convenience with thirty days’ notice. Billing remains monthly, based on the agreed time and materials arrangement.

The work leaves properly

Before an engineer leaves, documentation is brought up to date, access is removed and the knowledge behind the work is handed over. The handover happens during the notice period, not on the final day.

Add another engineer, or build a team

If more capacity is needed, another engineer can be added through the same process. If the requirement has grown beyond individual augmentation, we will recommend moving to a Dedicated Team instead.

When organisations call us

Call us when

A funded roadmap the team cannot absorb — a hire fell through, a deadline moved forward, a skill nobody in-house has.Work that needs an engineer productive without supervision from the first sprint.A team worth keeping that is one or two people short.

Not us when

What is wanted is the cheapest people available in bulk. A staffing agency does that better and charges less. The team itself needs rebuilding, or the delivery should be owned outright — that is a Dedicated Team conversation, and we will say so.

Senior engineering capacity without rebuilding the team.

Describe the gaps, and we will propose the engineers best suited to fill them.
